Terms of Use
Last updated 26 August 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Muhammad Haris Siddiqui (“we”), the publisher of DermDecode. By downloading or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.
1. What DermDecode is — and is not
Formulations change, labels contain errors, photographs can be misread, and individual skin reacts differently to the same ingredient. Always read the manufacturer’s own label and patch-test new products. Never rely on DermDecode to decide whether something is medically appropriate for you — and if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under the care of a clinician, ask them first.
2. Who may use the app
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where local law requires it) to use DermDecode. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
3. Your account
The app creates an anonymous account for you automatically. You may optionally link it to an Apple or Google sign-in so your history follows you across devices. You are responsible for activity that happens through your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the app for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of anyone else’s rights;
- upload photographs of people, or of anything other than product packaging;
- attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, scrape or bulk-extract the ingredient knowledge base;
- interfere with, overload or circumvent the scan limits, security or rate limits of the service;
- resell, sublicense or redistribute the app or its content.
5. Free tier, adverts, and DermDecode Pro
The free tier includes a limited number of scans and shows adverts. DermDecode Pro is an auto-renewing subscription that removes both, offered monthly or annually, and may include an introductory free trial.
- Payment is taken by Apple or Google, not by us, when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your DermDecode account does not cancel a subscription.
- If you take a free trial and then subscribe, any unused part of the trial is forfeited.
- Refunds are handled under Apple’s and Google’s policies, not ours.
We may change the price or the contents of a plan for future periods; where the law requires it we will give you notice and the chance to cancel first.
6. Content and intellectual property
The app, its design, and the ingredient knowledge base are owned by us and protected by copyright. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own, non-commercial purposes. Brand and product names that appear in your scans belong to their respective owners; their appearance does not imply any endorsement or affiliation.
You keep ownership of the photographs you scan. You give us permission to process them for the sole purpose of extracting the ingredient text and returning your result, as described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Third-party services
The app relies on third-party services, including Google Gemini for reading label text, Google AdMob for advertising, RevenueCat for subscription management, and the Apple and Google app stores. Their own terms apply to their part of the service, and we are not responsible for them.
8. Availability
We do our best to keep DermDecode running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Scanning requires an internet connection. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, and we will give reasonable notice where a change materially affects a paid subscription.
9. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that ingredient readings, scores or explanations are complete, current or correct for your individual circumstances.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising out of your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your rights as a consumer under mandatory local law.
11. Ending this agreement
You can stop using DermDecode at any time and delete your account in Settings → Delete account. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms. Sections 6, 9, 10 and 13 survive termination.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed, and we will notify you in the app before a significant change takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, or of your right to bring a claim in your local courts where that law gives you one.
